Going on About Face was something I had been thinking about for a long time. The opportunity came up at a time when I had some free time and I decided it was something I wanted to experience. Coming from Tasmania we have a different experience of the Aboriginal story and I really wanted to hear another type of story.
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Adnyamathanha community in Port Augusta and the Congress conference which was held in Poatina Tasmania. It was an experience I found both challenging and rewarding. As someone who is not a regular church attendee, I new I would find the spirituality side difficult. However my time also showed me the great diversity in faiths within Congress.
During our time in Port Augusta we got to go on a trip to the Flinders Ranges with Aunty Denise, including an overnight stop in Bruce, a very small town. Aunty Denise told us many stories while we were there and this was definitely a highlight of the trip!
